Official Rule Book Empty General Rules

Post by ΩRazor Sun Jun 12, 2011 2:06 pm

GENERAL RULES
RULES

  • Don't be rude to the staff or other members
  • No discussions of ROM's or emulators, and no links to them. It is against Terms of Service.
  • Please do not spam unless it is in an area where it is okay otherwise its just annoying and pointless
  • Keep all posts appropriate for people under 18. That includes no swearing and no discussions of tv shows, movies, video games, etc. rated R or M.
  • Each member can have no more than 1 active account at a time. If you want to change your name, an administrator can do that for you so you don't have to sign up with a new account. If you want to just ask an admin to do so

RPG - JOURNEYS AND BATTLES

  • When posting in the RPG sections, be smart about what you are replying to and think if you can or should post there. Only mods and admins can reply to another member's journey if no other rules apply.
  • If you do not get a reply to your journey (or RPG profile) for at least 48 hours, you may PM a staff member that takes care of that forum you are in. No godmodding or making the outcome favorable for you. The mod/admin will decide what hits and if you win or lose
  • Some areas have a topic called landscape. It is important to know where your battling and what the land looks like. Remember to use common sense. So if your in the dessert don't say you jumped onto a lake and used water jutsu, be more creative and aware of your surroundings.
  • IMPORTANT: When roleplaying within areas remember, your character does not know everything you know, your character only knows what they have learned or what they have seen. This means even though the site may show that there is a war going on between two villages, if your character hasn't come in contact with someone who's knows of the war or hasn't been to the villages in which the war is between then they do not know.

SIGNATURES

  • Don't have signatures that are 5 miles long, they just take too much space on the pages. This might decrease your chances of getting a reply anywhere at all. Music, flash and Java codes may not be placed in your signature. No exceptions!
  • You MUST have your stats posted in your signature

  • Any sites you advertise must not contain adult content or links to ROM's/emulators. If they do you will be banned

Official Rule Book Empty Rank

Post by ΩRazor Sun Jun 12, 2011 2:27 pm

Rank

About Ranks

The rank of a character is so very important in an rpg. It's one of the most basic deciding factors of battles and moving on through the game. Most games you've probably played go like level 1-99, well here we don't. We use the traditional rankings of the naruto world. Your rank decides which jutsu your character may learn and how strong your character is. There's no way a level 1 could hit a level 99 and cause huge damage. There's no way a level 1 could match the speed of a level 99. So always keep in mind what level your at before taking on your opponents.

In Generation X there are two types of ranks. Using these two types will allow for more flexibility. First there is the Ninja Rank and then their is the Skill Rank.
  • Skill Rank - This is the level of power your ninja is considered or how strong they are regarded as. This determines what jutsu your ninja may learn and is kind of like a hierarchy for rating the strength of the ninja.
  • Ninja Rank - This is more akin to the ranking you are used in the naruto world (Genin, Chunin, Jonin, Kage, etc..). This rank determines what type of missions you may partake in.
Why do we use two different ranks? The reason for these two ranks is to provide flexibility. Because in some villages there will be a cap on the amount of certain Ninja Ranks (ANBU, Village Head, etc.) that are allowed, the Skill Rank will allow for ninja to still learn jutsu if they can improve their Skill Rank. This also allows for scenarios like Naruto Uzumaki is in himself. Naruto could be classified as a Genin (Ninja Rank) but in over all power he could be classified as an A-Rank or even S-Rank ninja (Skill Rank). Using this system allows for scenarios like this where someone who may not be particularly strong could become a Kage, or those who don't want to take their exams can still advance.

Ninja Rank Descriptions

NORMAL NINA RANKS

These are the normal ranks that ninja who reside within a great village go by. These ranks are based on a series of examinations that are put forth to try and sort out who really deserves to go on to become the next rank and eventually the greater protectors of the village.
Spoiler:

HIGHER UP NINJA

This is the rank when you truly decide who you are. At this rank you can become either a Medical Ninja, ANBU(hunter-nin), Village Head, Sage, and even Kage. At these higher ranks certain missions may become specialized to the task at hand. Higher Up Ninja typically are stronger and chosen because of their skill in a particular area. These are the ranks that you have been training for all your ninja careers.
Spoiler:

CRIMINAL RANKS

Missing-Nin - People may become this rank by abandoning their village at the rank of Genin, Chunin, or Jonin. Once they leave the village they may never come back unless officially pardoned by the Kage of the village. Because Missing-Nin are on the run they sometimes have a chance to learn more techniques. These ninja are grouped by what types of crimes they commit and are not bound in moving up ranks. Criminals can go from D-Rank Criminal all the way to S-Rank Criminal if they commit the right type of crime. Now I know many people may want to be criminals but it is not advised, as some villages may vigorously pursue criminals. Also your character should not abandon their village unless its in their nature or they have a legit IC reason.
Spoiler:
Now after you have committed the required crime comes the hard part. The getaway. The getaway involves creating a topic which describes your character running away after committing the crime. After posting the topic there is a 48 hour period in which others may pursue you. The only people who may pursue you immediately are those who are of the rank Jonin and higher. If ninja of the Genin and Chunin rank would like to pursue a runaway they must get IC permission from the Kage or the village heads. If you(the missing-nin) are able to getaway and survive the 48 hours you are officially considered a missing-nin and can now travel and enjoy all the things that come with your criminal rank.

Skill Rank
Skill Rank's determine a lot of the technical aspects of the RPG. This type of rank determines what type of jutsu you may learn, what type of weapons you may wield, and also when you can gain a second element. To increase ones Skill Rank they simply have to go above and beyond the call by training harder than necessary and the by OC posting for a Skill Review. The ninja will then be assessed by a few Admin and it will be determined if they may increase their Skill Rank without relation to their Ninja Rank. By taking the Genin, Chunin, Jonin, and Higher Up Exams you can increase your skill rank to D-Rank, C-Rank, B-Rank, and A-Rank respectively. This is not true for Missing-Ninja, just because one is a B-Rank Criminal does not mean their Skill Rank immediately goes to B-Rank also. The only way for Missing-Nin to increase their Skill Rank is to go through a Skill Review.
  • Skill Rank: E-Rank - These ninja can equip E-Rank weapons and learn E-Rank jutsu
  • Skill Rank: D-Rank - These ninja can equip D-Rank weapons (and below) and learn D-Rank jutsu(and below)
  • Skill Rank: C-Rank - These ninja can equip C-Rank weapons (and below) and learn C-Rank jutsu(and below)
  • Skill Rank: B-Rank - These ninja can train to master their secondary element, equip B-Rank weapons (and below) and learn B-Rank jutsu(and below)
  • Skill Rank: A-Rank - These ninja can train to master their secondary element(if not completed yet), equip S-Rank weapons (and below) and learn A-Rank jutsu(and below)
  • Skill Rank: S-Rank - These ninja can train to master their secondary element(if not completed yet), equip S-Rank weapons (and below) and learn SS-Rank jutsu(and below

Skill Review
A Skill Review is when one requests to be looked at to increase their Skill Rank. Anyone may do this but when one is receiving a skill review a few things are kept in mind:
  • How Active You Are As a Member
  • How Descriptive Are Your Posts
  • Have You Gone Above and Beyond Your Requirements
    1. -Learned Jutsu Greater Than Your Rank
    2. -Trained Not Just Jutsu, But Stats As Well
    3. -Completed A Good Number of Missions

RANK - Missions Eligible
Academy Student - E-Rank
Genin/D-Rank Criminal - D-Rank (and below)

Official Rule Book Empty Elements of This RPG

Post by ΩRazor Sun Jun 12, 2011 2:46 pm

Elements of This RPG

TRAINING JUTSU AND A.P.

Training Jutsu
Training in this RPG is very unique. Training is the way to learn jutsu, not fighting other people/NPC's. For each move you may learn you will find that it has a section for A.P., or Ability Points, which you must earn to fully learn the move and thus be able to use it effectively during battle. To train, all you have to do is go somewhere to train and make a new topic. At the beginning of the post you should paste the move that your going to be learning on the the top (if you would like you may put it in spoilers or quotes). To gain points you will/must post DESCRIPTIVE PARAGRAPHS of how your character is training and the feelings, techniques, and other trials/errors involved in the training. You can train through trial and error or by carefully thinking through the moves and using steps. After each post (or more) a mod will post how many "Ability Points" your character earned. To earn points you must also describe the character gaining chakra, failed attempts at the technique, and other things used to help train for the technique. Every 200 words in descriptive posts will earn a person, on average, 10 A.P.(20wrds=1A.P. /2000wrds=100A.P.) so keep that in mind while writing. This means for some jutsu that cost 300 A.P. It will take at least 6000 words to learn it. Some may say this is harsh. But this will sort out those who are willing to gain those powerful techniques and thus make sure those good RP'ers get the better techniques.
  • Here is an example of a good post of someone training to learn rasengan.
    Spoiler:

During training in topics your character can go home or interact around the village (but not in actual other topics or ares in the village). This means you have to voice your character doing so, this means you can go do other things such as sightseeing or just interacting with other made up characters. You may only have one technique being learned at a time. This means if your learning rasengan but then you go away, you cannot start learning chidori(or any other jutsu). You must finish learning 1 technique before you start on another

Learning Jutsu Above Your Rank
As you know some ninja (in the manga) also use jutsu that are above their Skill Rank. In this RPG you can also learn jutsu that is above your rank but to do so requires more effort. You can only learn jutsu that is two ranks above what you are supposed to be able to learn (ie: Someone with a Skill Rank of D that normally can learn D-Rank jutsu can also learn C and B rank jutsu with more work).

D-Rank above level ~ +50 A.P.
C-Rank above level ~ +100 A.P.
B-Rank above level ~ +150 A.P.
A-Rank above level ~ +200 A.P.
S-Rank/SS-Rank ~ +300 A.P.
You can only learn so many jutsu above your rank. So you must choose wisely. You can only learn 3 jutsu that is one rank above your own. You can only learn 1 jutsu that is two ranks above your own.
NOTE: You cannot learn any S/SS/Forbidden jutsu like others. To learn these you must either have permission from the owner.

Learning Jutsu From Others
As ninja teamwork is also an important aspect to remember and forging those relationships can also allow you to learn jutsu. Learning jutsu from others is also beneficial for the one learning because it requires less training points to learn. Any jutsu you learn that your rank is able to or below requires only 75% of the normal amount of training points (This does not apply for jutsu above your rank)
So if something normally requires 100AP, learning it from another only requires 75AP

Ability Points, Jutsu, and Chakra
This may be the most important section of this part of the rule book, and on the whole site because this will help you understand using chakra in battle, gauging how much you have, and how many jutsu you can perform before you are all tired out. In calculating how much chakra you have left and how many jutsu you can use you must pay attention to the values of your "Chakra Stat" and the jutsu's "Ability Points (AP)"

For most techniques that have stages it always and only requires the first stage's amount of chakra cost to activate. Techniques with levels (ie: tsukiyomi, amaterasu, susano'o, etc..) require what ever level the user knows.

Stats

Your stats determine how strong your character is. Without going into it to much stats range from 1-50 points with 11 being an average Jonin Ninja. Stats can only permanently increase through training or temporarily by equipping certain items or using certain jutsu
Training you character's stats is also a very important part of this rpg. Even though you can move up the ranks. If your stats do not improve then you cannot learn some jutsu, hold some weapons, or use some items. Depending on what rank you are you can only allot so many stat points and each stat can only go so high, in other words, they are capped off based on your skill rank and you can only have a certain amount in all.
  • E-Rank can only have 45 points in total allotted in total to all 7 stats. Each stats max being 7.
  • D-Rank can only have 85 points allotted in total. Each max being 14.
  • C-Rank can only have 125 points allotted in total. Each max being 21.
  • B-Rank can only have 165 points allotted in total. Each max being 28.
  • A-Rank can only have 205 points allotted in total. Each max being 35.
  • S-Rank can only have the maximum 300 points allotted in total. Each Max being 50

If you notice, the total number of points allotted is never exactly divisible by 7, so all 7 stats will not be able to be equal when you reach your maximum. This means that although you can decided to max some stats out, not all will be able to be maximized even if you were to train fully.

The stats are strength, stamina, agility, intelligence, dexterity, chakra, and latent power. Each of these controls your ninjas different skills. Strength controls how much your character can lift, hold, and how strong they punch. Its basically taijutsu ability. Stamina is the amount of endurance your character has. Agility is how fast and well your character is able to dodge. Intelligence is how well your ninja is able to think in tight situations and form strategies. Dexterity is how well your ninja is with weapons, using their hands, and their hand eye coordination, basically accuracy. chakra is simple, its the amount of chakra your character has. Latent power is how sever your chakra is or how potent it is. This means if this is higher your ninjutsu hurts more. If its to high some medical jutsu can't be used because your chakra's deadly or too severe. Stats are chosen when you begin.

Money (Ryo)

Money is important in everyday life and it is important here on Generation X. Each village (after they are established) will get a monthly allowance of 1,000,000 ryo which the Kage/acting leader will be able to put towards

Official Rule Book Empty Getting Started

Post by ΩRazor Wed Jun 15, 2011 10:59 pm

GETTING STARTED
Ok so now that you know some of the basic elements in this rpg it's time to get you started. There are three main things you must know how to de before you start going out and fending off ninja and learning new jutsu. (1)Starting a Profile , (2)Starting Role Playing, (3) Starting Topics.

STARTING A PROFILE

Starting a profile may be the most important thing you do here. Your profile is the character who's role your playing. Your character is who you are in the game and a huge aspect of this whole thing. To start a profile all you have to is go to the Character Submission Forum. Once inside, read the rules carefully to find out what you have to do. copy the template from the topic [1]CHARACTER SUBMISSION INFORMATION and paste it into a new topic you create. Fill out the template specifications as listed on the Character Submission Information, and then your done. Wait wait wait, hold your horses. Before you can start using your character you must have 2 mods, or 1 admin (or just the owner) approve the profile. Once approved your almost ready to start role-playing.

STARTING ROLE PLAYING

Now once you have your character you there several things you can do, but one thing you must do. You MUST go to your village and create a new topic describing your first day. This could be you describing a typical day as academy student, describing walking around the village. or describing what your characters doing at their home. You do not have to go into to much detail but should at least write a well constructed 5 sentence paragraph. This is just to get you used to writing paragraphs (you will do a lot of that here) and allow others of the village to know that there is a new person around. The other things you can do are train (learn jutsu), find someone to battle, go on a mission, or shop. As an academy student you are not permitted to go to another village yet, only once you reach the rank of genin can you begin traveling (through the use of missions)(when you reach the rank of chunin you may travel anytime you please by request).
While role-playing there is a certain way you should talk. You should speak in the 1st or 3rd person voice or IC, also known as In Character, In Character is the action of which someone acts within their Character, this means when you can type what your character's feeling as if it were you feeling it(1st person) or as if narrating(3rd person). For example:
1st Person - "I felt the cool breeze from the wind brush lightly against my hair, as i smelled the sweet aroma from the fragrant Camilla flowers which were in full bloom that night."
3rd Person - "Naruto felt the cool breeze from the wind rush lightly against his golden blonde hair. He smelled the sweet aroma of the fragrant Camilla flowers which were in full bloom that night.

When in the rpg areas of this board (the villages, and training areas) you should always be IC or In Character
By using IC it creates the feel that one is really listening to a story or reliving the events of a shinobi.

Well what if you have something you need to say which isn't relevant to the rpg or to the area your in? Well in this case you would speak in OOC or Out Of Character. When speaking in OOC in areas that are the rpg you should always put the words you want to say in parenthesis (or double parenthesis) with the letters OOC before you put what you need to say. For Example:
((OOC: I just wanted to say that i think that last move my opponent used was a little unrealistic, how can a character hold those four weapons at once while holding the ninja wire.))

Within this example the person who is using the character came out of character to give their input on a move that they thought was unfair.
Now that you know how to speak and how to do it, it's time to go on to the next part of getting started.

STARTING/CREATING TOPICS

Who can post in your topics - Most topics that you create are considered private unless otherwise stated. If you create a topic that you only want certain people in then put the description as "Private, Only for [List members allowed]" this way admins/mods know that only those specific people are allowed in the topic.
Topics that you mark or that are marked with open in the description are ones where anyone can post in.
"Travel Posts" are considered open for the first 24 hours. This does not mean just anyone can post in them. They are allowed open for 24 hours in case the kage had someone sent after your character or someone is tailing you. Now remember even though they are open and it's your topic. Your character shouldn't know about the other following them unless they know a sensor technique or some type of jutsu.

Death In Topics - Topics that you mark or are marked with [DE] or say "Death Enabled" mean that Death is Enabled within those topics. This means in these topics your character can die if they are fought and killed or worn out to much. Be careful because some missions will be marked [DE] and these are ones that you can die in.

  • Battle Topics

  • Travel Topics (Between Lands and Areas)
When Roleplaying your character can only be in one place at a time in the general rpg (MAJOR COUNTRIES, MINOR COUNTRIES, OTHER COUNTRIES/AREAS) this way your character isn't performing a double act. Therefore there is a way for you to signify and make sure you aren't in the same place at the same time, and to sort out where you've been and are headed. Traveling goes between Lands/Countires, Major Areas/Villages, Specific Areas. If your just simply exiting an open topic or leaving a topic because you have finished what you need in that topic (but it hasn't been locked yet) you should post [EXIT] at the end to let others know that you have left. One of two things will happen. If the topic was one that you created and only you participated in it lets mods/admins know to close it. Or if you do exit an open topic it lets other know that your character has left the area that they are in.

Traveling Within Villages and Major Areas~
    Spoiler:

Traveling Within The Same Land or Country~
    Spoiler:

    Traveling Between Two Lands~
    Spoiler:

  • Mission Topics
First off to be able to partake in a mission you must be eligible to participate. Ninja Rank is a big determinate in who can partake in certain missions.

    Academy Student - E-Rank
    Genin/D-Rank Criminal - D-Rank (and below)
    Chunin/C-Rank Criminal - C-Rank (and below)
    Jonin/B-Rank Criminal - B-Rank (and below)
All Higher Up Ninja/A-Rank Criminal - A-Rank (and below)
Kage, Sage, Village Head, ANBU, Medical Ninja/S-Rank Criminal - S-Rank (and below)
Kage, Village Head, ANBU/S-Rank Criminal - Forbidden Jutsu (and below)

If you can partake in the mission then you are on your way. First you should go to the Mission Center or your respective villages Mission Board and find a mission that you like and then go on your way. If the mission requirers more than one ninja then you should talk to any others who may want to participate in the mission with you. After you have decided on a mission you must go to the area that the mission specifies and begin the topic by posting the mission (you may want to place the mission in spoilers) then you may start roleplaying. Keep in mind that all missions have a post requirement and a word requirement. The post requirement is the amount of posts that each person participating in the mission must post. The word requirement is the amount of words required for the entire mission. This means that throughout all the required amount of posts you must at least use the amount of words require. Therefore if a mission has a word requirement of 700 and a post requirement of 5 then by the fifth post you must have totaled in the five posts at least 700 words.
Some missions require traveling which must be done sometimes in the mission and sometimes before the mission but either way you should put a link to the travel topic and the direct mission so that an admin/mod knows that they are related and deal with the mission. When you have finished the mission you should EXIT the topic and contact an admin or mod to lock the topic. An admin will then give you experience and money.
